Promoting partnership working in the NHS

HPMA Partnership Award 2015

The HPMA Excellence Awards have been recognising and rewarding outstanding work in healthcare human resource management for over 20 years. Winning projects, large and small, have made a real difference to patient care and influenced HR practice in healthcare and beyond.

The SPF is proud to sponsor the HPMA Partnership Award for partnership working between employers, trade unions and other stakeholders.

2015 HPMA Excellence in HR Awards

The 2015 HPMA Excellence in HRM Awards ceremony was held at the Novotel London West on Thursday 18 June. Guests honoured the winners, networked with HR professionals and above all had a night to remember!

This year the SPF Partnership Award went to Guy's and St. Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust for their exemplar management development programme ‘Passport to Management'.

Passport to Management is a bespoke two-day leadership development programme which was created through a joint effort between HR, staff side and training and development. The first day focuses on leadership development and the second day looks at the roles and responsibilities of HR, managers and staff side.

The judges commented that the programme demonstrated a unique approach to developing effective management in genuine partnership, and that it told a very compelling story that showed excellent partnership and co-production.

The video shows the team at Guy’s talking about their award winning initiative and the benefits it has brought to the trust, and goes live to day two of the programme with management attendees taking part in a forum theatre scenario to resolve a typical management issue.

Congratulations to Guy's and St. Thomas' and to our two other finalists, Aintree University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust for their Apprenticeship Implementation project, and management and trade unions at University Hospital Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust who worked in partnership to improve their disciplinary process for the benefit of staff, management and ultimately patients. Thanks also to everyone who entered the SPF partnership award category this year.
