There is some information on the Truth Project, which enables victims and survivors of child sexual abuse to share their experiences with the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse.     Philip Dunne MP, Minister of State for Health, chaired his first SPF Wider Group meeting on 18 October. A presentation was given from the National Guardians Office including a local freedom to speak up guardian from London. There was updates on NHS Apprenticeships, New Care Models and Sustainability and Transformation Plans and SPF proposals to tackle Bullying and Harassment in the NHS. London NHS Partnership updated the meeting on their regional SPF’s involvement in the STPs and Local Workforce Action Boards and NHS Employers updated on this years Flu Fighter campaign.

    Ben Gummer MP, Parliamentary under Secretary of State for Care Quality, chaired the meeting. In his introduction Minister focused on the implications of Brexit and the need for all organisations to support their EU workers. He asked partners to pass on the enormous value both he and the Secretary of State place on EU workers within the NHS. Discussions then followed on the Workforce Race Equality Standard, tackling bullying and harassment in the NHS and healthy workplaces.

    Sir Robert Francis has published his report on the Freedom to Speak Up review. The report sets out 20 Principles and Actions which aim to create the right conditions for NHS staff to speak up, share what works right across the NHS, and get all organisations up to the standard of the best and provide redress when things go wrong in future.

  • Consultation on three new modules to support the Sustainable Development Strategy

    The Sustainable Development Unit (SDU) is seeking input on three new modules it has developed to support the Sustainable Development Strategy for the health and care system. The new modules, which will combine with the five original modules launched alongside the strategy in January 2014, cover: • An integrated metrics approach • Innovation, technology and R&D • Creating social value The SDU welcome responses from those involved with or interested in any of the areas above. The consultation closes on 31 August.

    Dr Dan Poulter, Parliamentary under Secretary of State for Health opened the meeting which included a number of strategic updates and discussion items. Dominic Picillo from MENCAP provided an update on whistleblowing and there was feedback from the North of England Regional Partnership. A video presentation on genomics was introduced by Health Education England (HEE). In addition, updates were given on the Francis one year on report, the SPF Strategic Group, the Greenaway Report, Talent for Care, the SPF Learning for Life Campaign and the SPF Stocktake Report 2014.
